no place like home

finished up with my BIG mini-book. It's so huge I will not torture you by putting a lot of photos on the blog. It's both in my flickr and here.

p.s.

I got a new job. It's a lateral move, to a different role. I'm kind of excited.

just chilling.

I rarely imbibe, but G asked me to finish up the last of the girly raspberry wine after dinner. I was using my typewriter and the photo just kind of came together... I feel like I should be wearing slippers and a smoking jacket or something...

Anyway...Here is a peek of my Home mini as inspired by the class I took from Shimelle.
I used over 50 photos (so there are like 24 or so spreads in the book). I am sold on the whole costco photo printing thing. This thing practically put itself together. I'll share when I can take photos of it in some good light.

What's the haps? I am totally and utterly in love with book-making and mini books. I actually went out and got some PVA and bookboard and have been playing. I think I might actually need to take a class though.
Very inspired by:

This awesome book by the Red Velvet girls.

Here and here are some fabulous tutorials by Dina Wakely.

Elise always knows cool things to do with paper.

Also I love this mini (those eyelets!!!) by Donna Downey.

And holy cow, did you see Kate and Susan's stuff for Sweet Spuds this month? Wow.

And as usual, lovely book happenings over at TAIF.

Oh. Run to Michaels today and buy these. And this. Yummy Amy Butler Lotus goodies.

p.s. I was totally on the Catwalk today at SIS. Cannot believe it.

Inspired

Just finished up with my class kit for the"inspire me" mini that I bought from Kristina Contes.

It was good fun to finish a project in one sitting! (I have at least four mini-books going right now, all in various stages of completion). I also plan to add to it, as I find interesting bits and bobs that I think need to live in it.

One interesting thing that I noticed as I was putting this together, was that I had a hard time finding photos that were at a vertical angle. I guess I tend to go for the horizontal shots.

It's good to know that about myself, so I now am aware that I need to mix it up a bit!

all I ever wanted....

Ah..... four day weekend, I love you. (That's why I was working the ten-hour shifts this week, so I could have a nice long weekend.) Grab a coffee, this is going to be a long post. :D

Thursday night I swung by the Pacific Antique Mall which is right by my work. It was so full of interesting (and expensive stuff.) I fell in love with this vintage sewing table. Alas, it was over $500 so it is not to be mine. But I love it anyway.
This is me in my old glasses. I am out of contacts and the new ones have not come in yet. :(
Have you seen this? It was quite fortuitious as I had a very awesome and exciting day yesterday.

So, Friday morning I got up super early. I did some laundry and then ran down to the stamp store to pick up my custom order! Fonts + thoughts = rubber goodness.I also picked up my beloved Danskos from Nordstroms. They were all freshly cleaned and repaired. I am so happy to have them back.

When I got home, G and I went down to Pike Place Market for some breakfast and picnic goodies. We hopped on a ferry to Bainbridge Island for our mini-vacation getaway day-trip thing.

We stopped for some coffee at the only coffee shop in town, BlackBird. There was not a Starbucks to be seen (shocking, I know.) My mocha was quite tasty.
We went for a walk around town. We found this flower just sitting on a post in a park near the marina.
After walking around town for a bit we decided to drive around the island and see what we could see. We eventually found ourselves in Fort Warden park. There was a nice nature trail down a very steep path down to the beach.
At the bottom of the path there was an amazing meadow filled with tiny daisies.
We sat for a bit by the beach and listened to the birds and the seals. It was so peaceful.
Then we broke out our picnic swag and feasted. After that I needed a little nap on the grass.
Greg didn't like the grass. He has allergies. Then we had to trudge up the path back to the car. And the scary scary park bathroom.
There is an amazing winery on Bainbridge (called Bainbridge Winery). They have a beautiful vineyard and this FANTASTIC raspberry dessert wine. You can only buy it on the island. So we had to get a few bottles while we were there.
And then we took the ferry home.
Later we went out for dinner at this little cafe in the Junction with Greg's father and brother. It was a good day.
My plan for today is coffee + crafting. And then I still have TWO MORE DAYS of no work.
Life is so good. Hope your weekend is going great as well!

Art is...

First post of my April Sweet Spuds layouts. The full gallery is up if you'd like to take a peeky peek. Always amazed by what the other ladies come up with. And also, we have a super cool guest designer for you to check out as well.
I will share the rest of my layouts on the blog tomorrow. I'm working 10-hour shifts this week and I just got back from craft night. Going to sleep now.
Peace out.

And then she...

Finally, finally making some progress with my "No place like home" class with Shimelle.
(i.e. I pulled the photos, picked some product and painted the covers.) Still a lot to do, but I'm enjoying the process. Going to try very hard to balance the book with both journaling and pretty things. Updates to be posted as more is done.

In other news, my Saturday was spent getting an eye exam and picking out new frames. I am a contacts kind of girl, but I want to switch it up a bit. I got huge square nerd glasses and I love them. I will post a photo when they come in. :D

We went for bagels after that. This is the best evidence of a good Saturday morning:

I spent some time sorting and purging some art supplies. Still not done, but have made good progress. Here is my self portrait for today. It's a fun (and very graphic) shirt. I love the pattern.
And finally, here is the full revail of my LO for ScrapMojo #13. The inspiration is all about Juno. (Which I finally saw today.) It is a cute movie and a fun challenge. You can check out the details here. The rest of this album is going to be about summer. I'll post some more pages later this week.

Hope your weekend is going well. Nighty night.
