Thoughts for today.

Ah, so glad to be home. Nothing like sitting at my own computer, with a diet coke on hand and a crafty project drying on the table next to me while I write a little blog post. It feels so nice and normal. We had a great time away, but it was just so different than the normal routine.

Love the quote that Ali has on her blog as it really resonated with me:

"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return."
-Mary Jean Iron

Love that she posted her Week in the Life class stuff. When things calm down a little, I look forward to playing along.

So... I took about 2500 photos when we were in Europe. Needless to say, I have a lot of editing, organizing and purging yet to do. The photos are slowly being added to a new Flickr set here. I think it might be awhile before they completely loaded up though....but I will do my best to get them all up as quick as may be.
We had a very interesting and educational trip. We saw many wonderful sights, ate a lot of good food, climbed up many flights of stairs, and I became obsessed with nutella and scarves. Also pistachio gelato. We blew a fuse in our Paris apartment, rumbled with scam artists, and Greg had his shoes shined by our Italian landlord. I almost dropped my camera in the Seine river, Greg was nearly killed by cobblestones in Pompeii and we learned that graffitti artists in Europe are way more aggressive than here in Seattle.

Seriously, there are so many stories to tell....I think it would be too much for one post. I can't wait to put my book together with the photos and the stories all in one place.

Listening to an album by Kerli right now. Found her through a little video on Hulu that was made as an advertisement for Fringe. The songs reminds me of Evanescence, a little. I particularly like the video for Walking on Air. A little creepy, a little goth girl-y. Just right for October. :D

Just watched a Paperclipping live episode featuring the amazing Dina Wakely. Totally inspired by her today. I dug out my art journal and my adirondack inks and went to town. Feels good to make crafty things again. Three weeks is a long time for me to have not made anything. Perhaps that's why I took so many photos? Hmmm.

The Taking Flight book was amazing. I enjoyed it, and look forward to trying out some of the projects and techniques that I learned. Craft, inc. was also very good. Really gave me some things to think about/focus on.

I think that I am going to ask for all of Keri Smith's books for Christmas. You may find this shocking, but I actually don't own any of them. I just always pine over the ones at the bookshop whenever I go there. I have been afraid to actually take them home as I believe that I will be utterly consumed by them and my schedule just doesn't allow for that right now. ;)

Working on my October Sweet Spuds projects and the next Scrap Mojo layout. Welcome and congrats to Miss Dani who has just joined the mojo team. Her stuff is just lovely. (She was also the guest artist at Sweet Spuds last month!)

I have a bit more to share about some new experiments with lomography and the polaroids, but I think that I will save it for another post. Must go cook dinner now.

Happy Sunday!

Oh, I so can't wait to (gradually) see your photos from the trip and any scrap projects you make from them! :-) Also, can't wait to hear all the crazy stories.

Have a great day!
