Sketchbook Project 2012 - Limited Edition Project

Apparently, running away from the internet does not solve all of your life problems, but it does help out a bit, when things in your life go boom/poof/kaplowie. I apologize for the long silence on the blog, but I will say that it was unfortunately necessary. Sometimes events occur which are not necessarily compatible with blogging, creating, or memory keeping. I'm still trying to work out how and why and what I want to use this space for - I'm just going to go with the flow until I figure that out.

I've been working on a few different things, some of which are even ready to share on the blog. I've already sent this particular project off to the Brooklyn Art Library.

There are quite a few photos, including all the detail shots, so I also put together a video overview.

Here is a bit of an overview of what the book looks like:

I'll be sharing the details of the pages over the next several days, starting with the cover and the first of the inner pages:

As I was working on this book, partly based on my situation at the time, I really was trying to just play.I worked in layers. I used up scrap photos and scraps of magazines. I threw all notions of perfectionism out the window. It was tough. Some of the work here is in my opinion, ugly and crowded. But the point was to play and create, and not judge myself too badly. In that sense, this is one of the most real art journals I've done. And I've given it away, so that helped free up my creative impulses as well. Art journaling is such cheap therapy (though, not if you count the cost of my stamp "investments," lol).

Back tomorrow with a few more pages.

Previous posts about my past work for the Sketchbook Project can be found here.

Hope you are well.

This new artwork is amazing!! Thanks for sharing.

As for the things going boom/poof/kaplowie...sending you kind thoughts and warm prayers for some peace and courage in whatever variety would be most helpful and useful. =)
