CKC Seattle Registration

We interrupt this blogging break to provide you with some scrappy news!

CKC-Seattle
November 12-13, 2010
The Meydenbauer Center
Bellevue, WA

I figured y'all might appreciate a break from the endless photo posts. ;)

As much as I may dislike where Creating Keepsakes Magazine has gone with their content and subscription policies, I have to give them credit for still facilitating what ends up being a pretty fun event for me.

I am talking of course, about the Creating Keepsake Convention (CKC) that occurs once per year up here in Seattle (technically in Bellevue, but we won't qubble).

So one perk of having attended CKC Seattle in the past is that I got to do early registration today.

(And yes, I am aware that going to a con makes me a nerd. A scrapbooking nerd. Awwww yeah.)

Anyway....

Regular registration opens tomorrow, but sometimes classes do sell out. And since I decided to take a few classes this time around, and attend a crop, I wanted to make sure I got what I wanted.

I am even taking the day off of work, so you know this implies a level of commitment. And splurging...

So my fabulous scrappy weekend will commence with an early morning Technique Tuesday class. It's called "Live in the Moment" and was designed by Ali Edwards. While she will not be teaching (sigh) I have always found TT classes to be really organized, super fun, and to have great class kits.

So that will start my morning off right. After that, straight off to a class taught by Tattered Angels

We get to build a little album designed by Heidi Swapp using a "fascination folder." Apparently, everything old is new again, and I had missed out on the Heidi madness the first time around, so I figured it would be fun to try this particular class and see whats what.

The class is two hours long and I have heard nothing but good things about the classes from TA. Additionally, I get to make an album with products I have seen neither locally or online. That's what these things are about, right?

Good times.

I figure after this class it will be 1:30 in the afternoon and it will be time to somehow get myself cleaned up from all the inky fun, have a little snack, and then to hit up the vendor fair.

After that, I think a trip to Paper Source, Impreess and lunch will be in order.... Then maybe some hanging out... and then I'm back for more to take a class in the evening.

The evening class is going to be from Studio Calico... It is about masking and misting (sensing a serious theme here). I'm not really sure I will learn anything new, but I've heard the kit is nice, and I'd like to support this sort of thing... so why not? I wonder who is going to be teaching..

Anyway, after that I signed up for the Friday Night Crop. I did this last year too, but was totally hijacked by the Lasting Memories Girls (had a much better time with them, btw).

But since LM is now closed (single tear) I figure that it would be fun to get my craft on at a crop... I've never been to one at the con, you see. I've heard they are... interesting. I promise to report back with any juicy details. ;)

So.. the next morning I somewhat foolishly signed up for one final class... which is Glimmer Mist 101.

Now, I am a mist-a-holic, and I know that my Friday classes will be filled with misty goodness, but this class promises to teach a ton of techniques and be focused on making a reference album, not a project (unlike the Heidi Swapp class). I'm hoping it will be like a mini Ranger-U but with Tattered Angels. I'm really excited to get some quality time with an actual TA instructor, and not just peek over peoples' shoulders when demos happen at the show booth.

Fingers crossed for awesomeness.

After that?

Well, probably a final lap around the vendor faire and hanging out with my peeps.. if any of them come out.

Now the hard part is waiting until November for this fun stuff to actually happen. Sigh.

Last I heard, Joy Madison from the SC Design Team will be teaching the Masking and Misting Class in Seattle! The kit is not bad, but you do get a SC Exclusive stamp that you can only get through this class! Its a star and 3x3 scalloped square frame. And they give away alot of small door prizes!

I took the SC class in Portland - I thought they were cute LOs. I just signed up for one class this go-around: the Embellish It Latest & Greatest on Saturday. Hopefully I'll see you at the vendor faire! :)

I have never delved into the art of card or album making, but I really enjoy viewing others. I venture by from time to time to check out colors and how they go together. I will be popping by to view your works of art. Thanks so much for sharing.
