December 05 - Urban Craft Uprising!

I woke up early on Sunday morning, exited as a little kid at Christmas. For five years and counting, since the first show, I have attended every single one of these craft fairs and I always have a good time.Excellent shopping aside, I find inspiration and joy at these events. Plus it's nice to chat with fellow crafty folk.

So once I bundled myself into my car, I drove out to the Seattle Center and nabbed a really great (and free) parking spot. Since it was still too early to line up, I wandered around Queen Anne and the Center for a bit, taking photos of the sunrise. I grabbed a mocha at Ladro and eventually made my way back to wait in line. I was actually first in line... which meant I was pretty cold by the time the show actually opened. On the upside, I was guaranteed a bag of swag, and I got to spend quality time with a little cross stitch kit I picked up at the dollar bin at Michaels. I did pretty okay for my first try at cross-stitch. More on that to come.

Okay, now here are the photos of the show. :)

It was a great turnout. Phew! That is a lot of photos! I edit these collages all myself in photoshop, by the way. I use templates of my own creation. Clipping masks are my friends. I actually have a keyboard shortcut just to clip photos to my templates. :)

I had a great time at the show. I picked up a few excellent crafty things for presents and also for myself (letterpress, artisan soap, blue diamond stamps, a Tako Fabrics kit, a necklace by Fable & Fury...). I treated myself to lunch at Pagliaccis and a trip to Monkey Love Rubber Stamps where I purchased a bunch of Basic Grey Fruitcake.

After that, I had another adventure entirely... but that is a story I will be telling on December 06.

Fun.

PS - Thanks for the response about your do your great photo collages. I am impressed. I thought that you might have some easier way. You are probably much more practiced than me but it seems to take me a long time in photoshop (to make the templates just so, especially with borders, and then clip and resize the photos). Practice I guess.
