I heart Bananafish Studios

Okay, so this is a completely terrible video. My camera was on the verge of dying and I'm pretty sure I recorded this while in the middle of moving.

Nonetheless, I hope you find it amusing. It's just a little video in which I show you how I put my unmounted stamps on cling foam, but with a twist.

Portland Minibook Walkthrough

Portland CKC Minibook Overview from christinaclouse on Vimeo.

Enjoy the video... stills of the book forthcoming (if it ever stops raining!)

Feel free to pause the video at any point to check out the pages in more detail, we are flipping through pretty fast and furious here. ;)

Playing with Paper Tape

I made another video!

In this one I spend some time playing with a pretty frivolous tool, the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Tape Dispenser. Have to say, not as awesome as the tiny attacher, but kind of fun to play with.

As you'll see in the following video, I do love me some paper tape....

Ah, one take videos. I sure say um quite a bit. Practice makes perfect, right?

Going to have to work on practicing a bunch more then.

Any requests?

How to: Use a Heat Tool to Cut a Stencil

Recently, I acquired a new tool from Michaels. It is the Martha Stewart Crafts Multipurpose Heat Tool. And it's pretty great.

It looks like this in the packaging:

Ostensibly, you get this multipurpose tool in order to do fancy things for home decor projects (as it's part of the new Plaid MS Crafts paint line). But it had the magic words on the box: stencil cutting.

Um, hello. I like me some stencils. Also it has a cool craft iron-y thing for laser transfers and a pointy thing for drawing on leather and such.

It does not have a knife, as this tool from Walnut Hollow does (video per Scraptime). However, I found that the tiny pointy ends in the box still worked quite well, even for details.

I made a video about it that shows you how I made my own stencils using some acetate packaging. Please excuse the rambling and bad camera work. I'm learning as I go. :)

Chevron stencil was inspired by Julie Fei Fan Balzer, in this post.

Also, bonus for stencil lovers, she's doing a free class called Stencil 101 and it's rad. Check out her blog here for more details.

And this is a layout I literally threw together from scraps on my desk, using one of the misted papers from the video:

You can almost see the tiny misted houses.
(Yes, I'm still working on my white space issues.)

So to recap:

Pros:

  • Multiple tool tips in one tool
  • Cord has on/off switch
  • Has handy storage case

Cons:

  • Does not come with replacement tips, not sure where to buy them
  • Does not have a knife blade
  • Provided stand is sort of flimsy.
  • Really really hurts when you burn yourself

Hope you enjoyed the how to and the tutorial.

More to come. :)

TTV Overlay Tutorial - Video Screencast

Just a little something I whipped up as a demo for a bigger little something I'm putting together for my 10 Reasons Class site. Warning, there is some music here (just in case you are reading this on the DL).

Music credits to Good Old Neon

What do you think? Not so bad for a first try, eh?

If you have questions, I'd be delighted to hear them. Or rather, read them.

The TTV image shown is used with permission from a private Flickr group. More information on Faux TTV images is available here. And here are all my real TTV photos, if you want to get caught up.

Also, don't have photoshop? Well, I guess you might have to go take some real TTV images then. Just kidding. I've heard Splashup is a pretty fair alternative, though I haven't tried it myself very extensively.

Also, can I just say, how excited I am by all my blog loving peeps? Your support is amazing. Incredible. You make me want to make stuff just for you. Smooches.

Ahem. Thank you!

Video Blog: Portland Adventure Mini-Book

Vlog: Portland Travel Book from christinaclouse on Vimeo.

A late night, sort of rambling video where I talk about a travel minibook I'm going to be using on a trip this upcoming weekend.

Here's the link to the Ali Edward class I was inspired by. Also, new PRT is up!

Enjoy.

p.s.

Here's the current cheapest place to get instax that I found online. Save a few for me, neh?
Also, here's the list of places online where you can get one of those nifty receipt holders. I think I got mine from 2peas. ;)

Mini-Books and Alterables in Pummelvision from christinaclouse on Vimeo.

I made this little video last night in playing around with flickr sets on pummelvision. This particular one is of all the minibooks I have uploaded there. Here's a link to the "stills" used. It's really quite fun to watch. Different little things catch my eye each time.

Pummelvision is such a cool little tool. They also have support for a bunch of different image tools (instagram, dropbox, flickr, etc).

I think I'll do this with my 2011 photos to do a kind of year in review thing.

Hope you enjoy this little shot of craftiness.

Video Blog: Current Happenings

I made a video blog with my new camera! It's sort of upside-down.. but I think it still works. (At least this time there's no shaky cam!)

It features tiny chevrons! Labels! Stamps! A minibook!

And over seven minutes of me nervously rambling. If you get through the whole thing, I will think  you are awesome. Because you are.

Suggestions for improvement are totally welcome.

Happy Friday!

Craft TV (Online) Time!

Hey there,

Trying to get back on the blogging routine.

I've really been attracted to video tutorials lately. (I'm actually planning on shooting a little video for the blog this weekend). I thought I would share some of my current favorites with you.
First, a little prima minibook technique involving wax and paint:
