The weekend lens

As I write this, giant chunks of snow are throwing themselves to the ground outside. I am glad to be cozy and indoors right now. My dinner plans include homemade oatmeal and hot cocoa. Something hot and toasty, anyway. I do not get along too well with the cold temperatures. Up here in the Northwest, we haven't had a bit of snow in the city since November. Until today.

And just when this last weekend was so lovely, too.

Let's recap, shall we?

My first project was trying to remove the musty stink from a typewriter I had to rescue from the Goodwill. It's case was not salvageable, but I was moderately successful at cleaning the typewriter itself. Aside from some lingering mustiness, it works extremely well. And it is quite shiny. I gave it a new ribbon and am letting it air a bit more. Cute, isn't it?

The weather was so delightful, I actually got to wear my old peep toes and a new spring dress. And so bright and sunny it was hard to take photos, actually. The cherry tree was pretty happy about it though.

Days like this always make me want to get out of the house and go exploring. Preferably with a camera or three in tow. So that's what I did. I got out of the house and down to Fremont to visit Deluxe Junk, a very cute second hand shop (that by some miracle) I had not yet previously visited.

Once I got down there, I pretty much had to smack myself for not going before. I mean, if there was one best gathering place for TLR cameras at really good prices in Seattle, well, this place was clearly the best one in the city. They had typewriters and such too, but having dealt with a musty old typewriter already that day, I was content to just admire and browse. And fondle the vintage suitcases. And maybe play with some in-store TTV action.

After that I walked around for a bit, and then on impulse, bought a teeny tiny PB&J pie. It was yummy.

It was a very nice day for a good walk, and on the way down to the river, I just may have stopped at the Fremont Sunday Market and snagged myself a sky blue vintage metal document box.

And then I played around with my old Anscoflex. Without a contraption!

And then later, I met up with the boy for some additional coffee and beach walking.

Yeah.. It was pretty great.

It's going to be a pretty tough week at work, so I'm glad I took all these pictures to remind me of the good times in life--the weekends. :)

Weekend recap

This weekend was all about the tasklist. It was pretty much go go go from Friday to Sunday night. Still didn't get everything done, but quite a large amount of things were accomplished.

Spent some good time on the LT boards and galleries catching up on the haps and welcoming our three new Tulip Girls. Exciting things happening over there lately.

Finished a whole layout using some of my hoarded Collage Press goodies. I have tons and tons of photos still to edit from various daily and vacation adventures... and my printer was out of ink so I dug deep and scrapped with an older photo I had on hand. It worked out quite well. Need to wait for some daylight to photograph it before it goes up on the blog.

Spent some very productive and educational time at the local post office. Got in a quick trip to Michaels for more gluestick and another MS craft punch (I'm addicted... thank goodness for coupons).

To celebrate our 10 year anniversary (which is on Monday, but we've both got work) G and I had a lovely brunch on Saturday followed by a fantastic day at the Puyallup Fair (see evidence of photobooth and ferris wheel polaroid as noted in the picture above).

Read two books (I'm a pretty fast reader) and got some quality time at a really good bookstore (one new book and some stationary goods..one of which is going to end up in the shop, I think).

Good socializing done with various sets of friends and family.

Saw 500 Days of Summer and it was as good as I was hoping it would be. Sweet and sad and funny. Great music and imagery. Lovely props and costumes. It was very good.

It got a little chilly today, so I got to wear my new cape. It is warm and while I am sad that summer is ending, I do love my autumn wardrobe best.

I've utterly neglected my laundry and the grocery shopping.. but that can wait for after work tomorrow. I am going to savor these last moments of the weekend and do something totally non-productive, like catch up on google reader.  ;)

Have a lovely day.

September is my favorite month

Ah, the first of September. Today is mainly notable for the return of this lovely class. Shimelle always has the best classes. I really hope I can stay caught up. If only via the blogging aspect.

Lots of things happening this month, so today really feels a little bit like "back to school."

Also, fall is officially here because I am wearing plaid. Oh yes. Plaid. And you know, because it is starting to get colder and the sun is setting earlier and earlier. Sigh
Yesterday at Label Tulip we said our goodbyes to the fabulous Cathy, and today was a lovely chance to say hello and welcome the new owner Jennifer. You can learn a little bit more about the changes and about her here (note there is a giveaway!). I am delighted to say that I have chosen to stay on as a designer for another term. I am super excited about this.

September's kit is going to be yummy. I even snagged one of the add-ons to play with. Waiting for the mailman to bring it on by so I can get my scrap on. Probably sneaks later this weekend, if all goes timely. ;)
Besides the happenings with my class prep, this month I have a road trip/cabin adventure that will have me out of town for a solid week, at work we are dealing with "year end" shenanigans and oh yes, I will have my 10 year anniversary with the boy at the end of the month.
Going to be a busy bee, indeed.
It's a good thing I have access to free caffeine at work ;)
So..I spent a good chunk of the weekend crafting up the handmade goodies for my kits, but somehow I also managed to take some photos. As the film ones are still in the camera, here are some of the things I have snapped digitally over the last few days.
and that's the haps with me.
How have you been?

weekend getaway

Our trip was only for about 24 hours but it was a good one. Lots of good stories. We went to Granville Island and Stanley Park and the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Treetop walk... and had a great little road trip. Canadian mall food was eaten. Adventures were had.
I am still working on editing photos, thus the skimpy post tonight. Going to do another mini-book. Can't decide what products to use... we'll see. Supposedly the mail man will be bringing my August Label Tulip kit tomorrow.... maybe I'll use that. :)
Hope you had a great weekend!
