A New Year's Tradition...

For the new challege at ScrapMojo. My favorite New Year's tradition is smoochies with the boy, though the photo was actually taken on top of the Eiffel Tower...

Feels good to get my scrap on. And I do mean that I really used scraps on this one. I just kind of wanted to make something that was messy and fun, and that would use up a bunch of odds and ends.

Success!

Inky painty hands = a happy girl

Phase one of the art journal: complete
Dina's class on art journaling is one of the best classes ever.

I am super duper behind on my journal (I'm on the step that was supposed to be learned on the first week of November).

But anyway, still having a blast. Loving the techniques learned.
I feel so artsy having ink and paint on my hands (and all over my desk...)

The best part is that even my scraps turn out insanely gorgeous. Absolutely using these on layouts for sure. Check it out.
I believe there might be a part two of the class coming up in the future. If that is the case, I am SO there.

Speaking of classes, Donna Downey just released a bunch of video classes in her shop. I bought the layers one and am converting it to ipod mode to watch later. I have this weird thing where I really love watching scrapbook videos amd listening to craft podcasts while I work out.

I might get a few of the other ones, if I like this one. I'll keep y'all posted. :D

Have you heard of Paperclipping? It is an extremely cool podcast. I am not at member status, but there are a bunch of the free videos available on her site and also on itunes.

Hmmm, what else?

I discovered Tumblr today. It is very cool. I might switch the site over there if I run out of image space (as may happen soon)... Or mebbe Typepad. Not sure. I really love blogger, but I really don't love the limit on filespace you have for images. And considering how many images I post, well...

We'll see.

I was utterly foiled by my attempt to see Twilight today with my sister (nope, still haven't seen it) by the sneak attack snow storm that has already deposited three inches of fluffy white doom on my front lawn.

Looks like I am walking to work again tomorrow. Sigh.
That's enough blogging for me. Off to bed.
Hope your weekend was great and full of artsy messes!

bits of today...

a few quiet moments today.

A walk through the arboretum.
Went out for a lovely brunch. Then later played with my art journal, and bought some new digital elements to use on an upcoming project.
Lately, have been delighted by the black tea latte at the bux. A new afternoon favorite for sure.
Happy Saturday.

Birthday Girl

yup. today is my birthday.
I am a big fan of lists. I think they really say a lot about where you are right now and what you want or want done. And so, alright, my list from last year didn't get one hundred percent accomplished, but I think I made a pretty big dent in it. Let's move on.
Here is my list for this year:
27 things to do before I turn 28
  1. Take a real photography class
  2. Get a tripod.
  3. Learn what a light meter is and what it does.
  4. Take lots of pictures
  5. Back up digital pictures every month
  6. Begin work on a quilt
  7. Get a massage. Soon.
  8. Moisturize every day. (Not getting any younger)
  9. Sleep more.
  10. Focus on simplicity
  11. Keep up the workout routine
  12. Take better care of the car
  13. Maintain "use it or lose it policy" re: stuff
  14. Go to Portland
  15. Play with Keri Smith books
  16. Put pictures in picture frames
  17. Finish the three minibooks sitting on my desk right now
  18. Take a letterpress class
  19. Learn how to cook a really good curry from scratch
  20. Do something better with the Etsy shop
  21. Prep for Christmas projects starting in September
  22. Investigate the possibility of moving to a new place
  23. Go to the zoo
  24. Have a dinner party
  25. Blog frequently
  26. Acquire new+good music frequently
  27. Spend lots of time with Greg
Wish me luck.
My birthdays tend to be pretty low-key, and today was no exception.

Got up, got some coffee. Checked out the goods at the thrift store (no, I didn't buy that typewriter. Surprised by three bouquets of flowers and a cookie from the boy. Ran some errands and had dinner with G's folks. Scrapped a little. Watched some tv. It was a good day, if not terribly exciting. :D
Speaking of scrapping, here are some sneak peeks of the new mojo challenge coming up on the fifth. The January Sweet Spuds kit is also up for sale. Check it out here. Lots of funky bright colors to chase the winter blahs away.
Still thinking about my word for 2009.
Have a great Friday.
